Roma ISD Named Texas Honor Roll District for 5th Consecutive Time, Five Roma ISD Schools Honored for Academic Excellence
For the fifth consecutive time in the history of the Educational Results Partnership Texas Honor Roll, Roma ISD is named a Texas Honor Roll District! The ERP is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes. Roma ISD is recognized alongside only six other Texas school districts for the district honor including Sharyland ISD, Los Fresnos ISD, Coppell ISD, Highland Park ISD, Carroll ISD, and Nederland ISD.
The 2019 - 2020 Honor Roll is developed by Educational Results Partnership, a nonprofit organization that applies data science to help improve student outcomes and career readiness. ERP maintains the nation’s largest database on student achievement and utilizes this data to identify higher-performing schools and districts.
School districts that earn the Honor Roll distinction have demonstrated consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
In addition to this award, five Roma ISD schools were named Texas Honor Roll Star Schools. Delia G. Garcia Elementary School, Emma Vera Elementary School, F.J. Scott Elementary School, R. & C. Saenz Elementary School, and R.T. Barrera Elementary School earned the Honor Roll distinction. Emma Vera Elementary School, F.J. Scott Elementary School, and R. T. Barrera Elementary School were additionally awarded the Texas Honor Roll STEM Distinction for demonstrating high levels of achievement in science and math.
“I want to congratulate all the amazing students and staff, and our supportive parents and community for making these results possible,” said Roma ISD School Board President Ricardo A. Perez. “Excellence in everything we do has always been the underlying mission of Roma ISD, and there can be no doubt that when anyone looks at the data, excellence in education is just what we demonstrate. It takes a devoted team of enthusiastic community members, supportive parents, hardworking students, faithful teachers, forward-looking administrators, and superior support staff to make this possible. I am so proud of everyone in The Gladiator Nation, and my wish is that we continue the teamwork demonstrated at all levels to maintain this momentum and build on it for an even brighter future for our community.”
