Roma High Students Earn College Degree from South Texas College for Free

CONGRATULATIONS to the Roma High School Class of 2020 Graduates who also earned their Associate Degrees from South Texas College this month! These hardworking, dedicated students earned a full associate's degree from South Texas College through STC’s Dual Enrollment Medical Science Academy (DEMSA).

During the past two years the students followed a strict degree plan whereby they earned more than 60 hours of college credit while at the same time fulfilling all their high school obligations. We want to thank South Texas College, the STC Starr County Campus and STC’s Starr County Trustee Rose Benavidez for working hard to provide this opportunity for our students to earn a college degree for FREE before graduating from high school.

“This is truly an amazing leg up these students have been given and we are very appreciative of our partnership with STC for making this possible for our students,” said Roma High School Principal Ildefonso Saldivar. “We are so proud of these graduates who have shown anything is possible with planning and determination. They will certainly be leaders in whatever they choose to do.”

The college honored the students today with a drive by celebration at the STC Starr County Campus.
