Roma High Choir Members Headed to Texas State Solo & Ensemble Competition
Congratulations to the members of the Roma High School Choir who participated in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Economedes High School in Edinburg, Texas. Each student prepared a vocal solo and performed it by memory in front of an adjudicator who rated each performance with a rating of 1-5, with 1 being the best rating possible. Additionally an ensemble group of 8 students performed a piece together as a group for a rating. A total of 16 students received a 1st division rating of “Superior” for their solos and 8 students received a 2nd division rating of “Excellent” for their solos. The ensemble group received a 1st division rating of “Superior”.
A total of 11 solos and the ensemble group now advance to the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest (TSSEC) that will take place at the University of Texas at Austin on June 1.
Congratulations to these fine student musicians, their proud parents, and their dedicated directors Alicia Pena and Miguel Martinez.
