Roma ISD Summer TexPREP Students Visit Quinta Mazatlan
During the summer, Roma ISD TexPREP students visited Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen, Texas. Quinta Mazatlan is a historical adobe mansion, and nature and birding center. It serves as an urban sanctuary working to enrich people's lives by sharing knowledge about birds, plants, and environmental stewardship in South Texas.
The students had the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities and visited educational exhibits that taught them about different exciting topics that revolve around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). They also experienced presentations on the waterways of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, the water treatment process, the natural and urban water cycle, and the importance of plants, wildlife, and nature in the lower Rio Grande Valley. Thank you to the chaperones and bus drivers who accompanied the students on this innovative field trip.
