Roma High School Choir Student Earns State UIL Champion Medal

Congratulations to Roma High School Choir Program student Jacob Cruz on being named a UIL Outstanding Performer in the 2019 Texas State Solo-Ensemble Vocal Solo Contest! Of the approximately 100,000 students participating in the regional UIL music contests and the 25,000 musicians who competed, only 2 to 3 percent of the solo performances earned the distinguished honor of being recognized as an outstanding performer. In honor of his recognition Jacob was awarded a State Champion UIL Medallion.

“We are extremely proud of Jacob and the hard work that went into this accomplishment including hours of practice to accomplish this goal,” said Roma ISD Superintendent Carlos Guzman. “Roma ISD is committed to our performing arts programs because we know involvement in music leads to personal and academic success, and has been scientifically proven to lead to higher scores in math and science. We congratulate Jacob, his teachers Alicia Pena and Miguel Martinez, PAC Director Dr. Adrian Guerra, and especially Jacob’s supportive parents.”

Jacob Cruz.
