Roma High Rates Well in State, Nation in U.S. News & World Report Annual High School Ranking

Roma High School is proud to announce that according to the 2019 U.S. News & World Report Annual High School Ranking, RHS ranks in the top 14% of high schools in the United States and in the top 13% of high schools in the state of Texas!

“We rank #261 out of 2059 high schools in our state and #3118 out of 23,000 high school in the United States, but let me put that into perspective,” said Roma ISD Superintendent Carlos Guzman. “Many of the schools ranking higher than us are STEM and science academies, charter schools, private schools or early college high schools, meaning these high schools do not choose to serve all students. Also, if you look just at the traditional high schools that serve every student, we rank 8th in the Rio Grande Valley.”

“At Roma ISD, we focus on providing a well-rounded excellent education for ALL students, and obviously, we are succeeding,” he continued. “Once again we are in the top percentiles of these rankings because of a dedicated team of teachers, school administrators and district administrators committed to a whole child approach. I am extremely proud of this accomplishment and congratulate every member of our Gladiator Nation, especially our wonderful students who through their hard work ensure our district is a shining example of excellence. I also want to thank our very supportive parents and community members who are always our biggest cheerleaders. This is certainly a truly awesome time to be a Mighty Gladiator!”

According to U.S. News & World Report, the rankings, developed in conjunction with nonprofit research firm RTI International, are based on a revamped methodology that weighs six indicators of school quality including college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rates.
