Roma ISD Unveils Imagination Playground™ to Encourage Opportunities for Creative Play

Roma ISD unveiled its new Imagination Playground™ – a creative play equipment system granted by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and the national non-profit KaBOOM! – on Sept. 6, 2018. The surrounding community came together to use the new playspace, which provide kids in The Gladiator Nation with a great, safe place to play.

Imagination Playground in a Cart™ is an innovative design in play equipment that encourages creativity, communication and collaboration in play. With a collection of custom-designed, oversized blue foam parts, Imagination PlaygroundTM provides a changing array of elements that allow kids to create a playspace that is constantly built and re-built by their imagination.

“Roma ISD is very grateful to Kaboom and BlueCross and BlueShield of Texas for selecting our district to receive this unique playground for our students,” expressed Roma ISD Superintendent Carlos Guzman. “Because it is an indoor playground experience that requires students to use their imagination, we know it will greatly benefit our students’ intellectual growth. The system will first be used at Ramiro Barrera Middle School for students in our Special Education Unit. Later, the equipment will travel to our various campuses so that all students in our Gladiator Nation will have the opportunity to have that great experience. We look forward to seeing our students in action with the Kaboom system!”

This is the 40th playspace BCBSTX has provided in partnership with KaBOOM! through their Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® initiative. Through this partnership, BCBSTX and KaBOOM! and BCBSTX are ensuring communities have great PLAYces for kids and families.
