R.T. Barrera Elementary Adopted by South Texas College
South Texas College officially adopted Roma ISD’s R.T. Barrera Elementary School. Through the adoption program, R.T. Barrera is now part of STC’s College Bound Elementary Program. The college kicked off the relationship with the Eagles recently with a special College Bound Flag Raising Ceremony. The flag is a continual reminder to students of the pledge they made to graduate from college. STC will provide academic and college-going programming to help support R.T. Barrera Elementary in the school’s mission to ensure every Eagle goes to college. The schools and Roma ISD sincerly thank STC for their commitment and service to the students of the school and community.
"We look forward to a great partnership that will be a terrific advantage for our students," said Roma ISD Superintedent Carlos Guzman. "Roma ISD is always looking for new ways to keep our students college and career focused and STC's college-bound program is another great way to build in activities and programming that will reinforce that important message. Thank you to the STC Board of Trustees and Dr. Shirley A. Reed for working with us on this initiative. We are completely devoted to this mission and partnership."
