Mr. John Mireles

John Mireles is currently a band director in the Roma Independent School District.  He is currently in his 11th year of teaching—all of which have been spent at Roma ISD.


At Roma, Mr. Mireles assists with the Roma High School Mighty Gladiator Marching Band, conducts the Roma High School Symphonic Band, and oversees all trombone activities at Roma High School and its feeder schools, Roma Middle School and Ramiro Barrera Middle School. Under his direction, the Roma High School Symphonic Band is a consistent UIL Sweepstakes recipient and has been awarded Best in Class at numerous festivals. Members of the Roma High School Trombone Studio have excelled in All-Region, All-Area, and All-State auditions.


A native of Brady, Texas, Mr. Mireles attended Brady High School. In 2008, he received his Bachelor of Music degree from West Texas A&M University, where he was a trombone student of Dr. Joseph Cox and a conducting student of Mr. Don Lefevre. While in Canyon, he also studied with Mr. Robert Gillespie, former Principal Trombonist of the New York Metropolitan Opera. John also holds a Master of Music – Trombone Performance degree from Texas Tech University, where he studied with Mr. James T. Decker.


As a classical and orchestral trombonist, John’s performing ensemble credits include the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, Amarillo Opera, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale, Roswell (NM) Symphony Orchestra and the Laredo Philharmonic.
