Mrs. Monica Garza

Hello!

My name is Mrs. Monica Garza and this is my 20th year teaching. I was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. In 1991, I moved with my family to Texas with the firm conviction of seeking a college education in the USA. After graduating from Roma High School, I attended and graduated from the University of Texas Pan American. In the year 2000, I got hired as a permanent sub to teach English 1 and during that trial period, I knew teaching was my life path.

Teaching is embedded in my heart. I love the Roma community and teaching in this school district has been a blessing to me. I am very passionate to my profession and love to dedicate time to my lesson planning and curriculum. In my years of teaching, I have taught every subject under the Language Arts umbrella, from English 1-4 to Communications, English as a Second Language, College prep courses, and Spanish. I was the English Department Head for nearly 10 years and currently, I am the Gifted and Talented coordinator for the high school. Last year I served as ELA/ESOL Resource teacher and I am grateful for the opportunity and experience, but I am glad to be back as an educator because although I truly enjoyed that position, I missed the classroom and the direct interaction with the students.

I look forward to many more teaching years and many more memories with my students.
