Mr. E. Perez

Educational Background

I grew up in Roma, Texas.  I attended Roma High School and graduated in the Top Ten of my class.  I continued my education at UTRGV and obtained a BA in Business Management (Cum Laude).  I went back to UTRGV and entered the Alternative Certification Program in order to obtain my Teaching Certification.  Later, I got my Master's Degree in Instruction and Curriculum with an emphasis in Technology from GCU (Magna Cum Laude).  Currently, this is my 16th year teaching 4th Grade at R.T. Barrera Elementary.  My goal is to always make learning an enjoyable and memorable experience.

 Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy derives from a compilation of personal educational experiences, research based concepts, and the latest innovative instructional trends. These all establish a strong foundation that instills a dynamic and optimal learning environment for all students.  The classroom setting should always stimulate student creativity and academic interest.  Our classroom is formatted to promote positive interaction, which includes discussions on current events, debates, discovery, investigation, role-playing, and cooperative analysis.  Differentiated instruction is instrumental in targeting all diverse student learning styles.  Knowing that I made a difference in my students' lives and facilitated their quest to become life-long learners is my main objective in every academic year.
