Parent Resources

Roma ISD libraries are committed to supporting every student in becoming a strong and confident reader. We provide diverse collection of books and resources that align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the district curriculum. Our mission is to inspire a lifelong love of reading while also strengthening critical thinking and academic success.
Our carefully selected library materials:
- Inspire enjoyment of reading and appreciation of literature
- Support the development of higher-level thinking and analytical skills
- Enrich factual knowledge and reinforce classroom learning
- Reflect a wide variety of topics, voices, and perspectives, representing the diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural communities of Texas, the nation, and the world.

New Book Review & Approval Process
Roma ISD places the highest priority on maintaining library collections that are both high-quality and age-appropriate. Our certified librarians, as experts in the field, follow a careful and thorough review process when selecting new books. Each title is chosen using professional criteria that consider literary merit, educational value, and developmental appropriateness for students.
For transparency, we will publish proposed book lists online for a 30-day public review period. We welcome and will carefully consider all parent feedback before the list is approved.

Request for a Formal Challenge of a Book
Roma ISD is committed to working closely with parents and ensuring full compliance with Texas Senate Bill 13. As part of this commitment, we want to remind you of your right to request a formal challenge of any book in our library collection.
If you have concerns about a specific title, you may begin the challenge process by completing a written form. This formal process is in place to provide a fair and thorough review. In accordance with Senate Bill 13, any book under formal review will be temporarily removed from circulation until the process is complete. Please note that the review may take up to 90 days.
