Roma ISD Strengthens Student Safety with Purchase of 10 New Seat-Belt Equipped School Buses

Roma ISD is continuing its commitment to student safety with the purchase of 10 new Longhorn school buses, scheduled for delivery during the 2026–2027 school year.
This investment comes as part of the district’s effort to comply with updated Texas safety regulations that require newly purchased school buses to be equipped with three-point seat belts. The law, passed by the Texas Legislature, mandates that all new buses placed into service include seat belts to enhance student protection during transportation.
"By proactively adding these buses to its fleet, we are ensuring full compliance with state requirements while prioritizing the well-being of its students," said Roma ISD Superintendent Carlos M. Gonzalez Jr.. "The new Longhorn buses will provide a safer, more secure ride for students traveling to and from school and extracurricular activities."
Roma ISD extends a sincere thank you to the Board of Trustees for their thoughtful consideration and approval of this important purchase. Their continued support of student safety and district needs helps ensure that Roma ISD remains proactive, responsible, and student-centered in every decision.
